Dramatic Win Over Newcastle Proof of Man City’s Champion Mentality

Pep Guardiola was enthusiastic about seeing Manchester City’s dramatic victory over Newcastle United. It’s acknowledged that tough wins like these are sometimes necessary.

Manchester City recorded a comeback when they visited St James’ Park, Sunday (14/1/2024) early morning WIB, in the continuation of the Premier League. Having taken the lead through Bernardo Silva, the Citizens then fell behind due to goals from Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon.

Kevin de Bruyne’s entry in the 69th minute was the catalyst for Man City’s revival. He scored a goal five minutes later, then provided an assist for Oscar Bobb in the 91st minute.

This victory is crucial for Manchester City who are trying to continue to stick with Liverpool. Pep Guardiola’s troops were left behind in the championship competition last November-December, but then gained momentum, especially after winning the Club World Cup.

“It was a very good match, sometimes it’s better to win that way for the team, for everything,” said Pep Guardiola, quoted by Sky Sports.

“It was an extraordinary performance from the team, we played with great character. They showed me that they want to be in the competition, to fight until the end to defend the title,” he added.

Manchester City managed to win in the Premier League in the November-December period. Erling Haaland et al have only won once in six matches.

Barcelona was beaten by Real Madrid 1-4 in the Spanish Super Cup final. Will the Blaugrana coach, Xavi Hernandez, be safe in his position?

“The question doesn’t make sense. This is the final. This is not the time to talk about Xavi’s future,” said Sports Director Deco, as reported by Marca.

“He has the trust of the president, the sports management. This is a tough defeat that should be discussed, but it didn’t happen, it won’t change anything,” he said.

Barcelona lost badly against Real Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup final. Playing at King Saud University, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Monday (15/1/2024) early morning WIB, Xavi’s team was slaughtered 1-4.

Madrid’s four goals were scored through a hat-trick from Vinicius Junior and one goal from Rodrygo. Meanwhile, Barcelona only scored once thanks to the action of Robert Lewandowski.

2023 Abu Dhabi GP Formula 1 Results: Verstappen Wins Final Race

Max Verstappen ended Formula 1 2023 on a strong note. The Red Bull Racing racer won the 2023 Abu Dhabi F1 GP race.

In the race held at the Yas Marina Circuit, Sunday (26/11/2023) evening WIB, Verstappen, who won pole, immediately stepped on the gas from the first lap.

Even though he was disturbed by Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc at the first corner, Verstappen was unwavering until the end of the race, which completed 58 laps.

Verstappen appeared dominant by 17.993 seconds ahead of Leclerc who finished second. Mercedes GP driver George Russell completed the podium by finishing third.

Sergio Perez as Verstappen’s teammate finished fourth followed by McLaren racer Lando Norris in fifth position. Oscas Piastri, Fernando Alonso, Yuki Tsunoda, Lewis Hamilton and Lance Stroll finished sixth to tenth.

The success of the two Mercedes GP drivers in finishing in the top 10 in Abu Dhabi made them runners-up in the Constructors’ Standings with 409 points, three points ahead of Ferrari in third place.

Another Ferrari racer, Carlos Sainz Jr, failed to add points because he only finished 18th. Thus, F1 2023 finished with Verstappen as world champion with 575 points.

Verstappen appeared dominant by winning 19 wins from 22 draws. The remaining three were split between Perez (twice) and Science (once).

2023 Las Vegas F1 GP Results: Verstappen is Champion!

Red Bull Racing racer, Max Verstappen, succeeded in winning the 2023 Formula 1 (F1) Las Vegas GP. This was his 18th victory this season.

The race took place at the Las Vegas Strip Circuit, Sunday (19/11/2023) afternoon WIB. The direct collision incident occurred at the first corner at the start of the race, which affected Carlos Sainz, Fernando Alonso, Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Botas.

Verstappen then received a five-second penalty on the second lap for sending Charles Leclerc off the track at the start of the race. This penalty made the gap between Verstappen and Leclerc only around 2.038 seconds.

On the 25th lap, contact occurred between George Russell’s and Verstappen’s cars. This impact caused Russell’s car to lose its front wing.

In the process, Verstappen was able to overcome a fierce race. He finally emerged as champion.”I think it created quite a lot of racing here, so it was really fun. I hope everyone enjoyed it a bit, already excited to come back here next year,” said Verstappen post-race.

Charles Leclerc finished the race in second place, followed by Sergio Perez in third. Esteban Ocon had to settle for fourth place and Lance Stroll in fifth.

Haaland Still Injured, Can Only Play at the End of January

Erling Haaland is still unable to play for Manchester City due to injury. The Norwegian bomber is predicted to make a comeback at the end of January.

Haaland has been absent from Man City since early December 2023. He has a bone problem and has missed the Sky Blues’ last eight matches.

The latest news shows that Haaland has started training with the team before the meeting against Huddersfield Town in the FA Cup. However, he was not included in Man City’s starting line up in that match.

Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, admitted that Erling Haaland’s injury took longer than expected. According to him, the 23-year-old bomber still needs to rest before returning to the field.

“He had a slight problem with his leg. The doctors decided to rest for one week and will start again in Abu Dhabi,” said Guardiola about Haaland’s injury, reported by The Sun.

“It’s a bone injury, it takes time. With every injury, you can do anything, but it’s a matter of time,” he added.

“Hopefully by the end of this month he will be ready. That’s a little more than we expected,” said Guardiola.

It is certain that Erling Haaland will not play when Manchester City clashes with Newcastle United, Sunday (14/1) early morning WIB. The Sky Blues then entered a two-week break before playing against Tottenham Hotspur in the FA Cup.
